Home Weatherization Basics and Beyond ~ September 4th~ 6:30-8:30pm
The Easy, the Sweaty, and the Ugly!! The "easy" things you can do to lower home energy costs are free, and can save a bunch! With a little "sweat" and modest investment, there are other things you can do to make your home more efficient. You may or may not want to attempt the "ugly" tasks yourself, but you should understand the how and what about getting them done right. This workshop will help you sort it all out! OPTIONAL: Prepare yourself for the class by bringing specific information about your annual home gas and electric consumption, to begin analyzing your own energy use patterns. With Charlie Richardson from HomewoRx. Charlie is a certified building analyst, energy auditor and weatherization expert will share his 20 years experience of residential energy problem solving. Food Preservation Class ~ September 10th ~ September 10th ~ 6:30-8:30pm
Come and learn the lost art of canning, pickling, freezing and other ways to preserve your bountiful summer harvest. Class will be held at Lyons Valley Village, $10. Space is limited so please pre-register by emailing Betsy Burton, or calling her at (30)823-5839.

We're all getting more and more conscious about where we spend our money and what kinds of products we buy, but have you thought about whether your IRA and/or other investments are doing their good turn (or bad juju!) for the planet? Sometimes we forget that our retirement and other funds are indirectly helping to support companies in their missions...for better or worse. Learn about the growing field of SUSTAINABLE AND SOCIAL INVESTING and learn how to get a solid return on your investment by putting your money where your heart is.

So, come get the scoop on alternative transportation options in the area and learn how to minimize your impact from planes, trains and automobiles.
